Have you noticed a digger on the playing field? The school’s new wildlife garden is underway.
Last summer Year 6 worked on the plan for the garden with 2 specialists. Ecologist Richard Baines helped students establish the types of habitats we are hoping to create in the garden and artist Rosie Murray led a drawing workshop to create drawings that will form the basis of some artwork in the garden.
This information was then given to the designer Jo Ruth who drew up the plans for the garden.
This week Jo showed the plan to the current Year 6 who showered her with lots of enthusiastic questions about the various habitats and ideas for the garden. Throughout the year these students will become really involved with the garden as they work with the team to organise and plant the various habitats.
James, Matt and Damien are busy constructing the pond, marking out the pathways and creating each of the habitat areas.
